If you want to get married on the beach in the UK, you now can do it. And we don’t talk about restaurants with sea view, but for a proper, real beach wedding in the UK.
The law in Britain states that ceremonies may only take place in a ‘permanent covered building’ – something which until now has proved difficult to put in place on British beaches. However, thanks to a unique permission granted to Bournemouth Borough Council (after dozens of requests), couples can legally tie the knot on the resort’s seaside.
If you want to experience this unique event, get in touch with Beach Weddings Bournemouth. They promise to arrange as big or small a marquee as you need according to your guest numbers – everything from a cocktail or champagne drinks reception after the ceremony followed by a relaxed wedding breakfast in one of our marquees including BBQs, freshly cooked fish & chips, buffet with local meats and fish, afternoon tea and fruits de mere platters. We can tailor the whole event to your exact needs.

Kate and Tim were married on Bournemouth Beach on Saturday 27th October 2012. They married at Beach Weddings Bournemouth, the only place in England and Wales where you can have your legal ceremony on the Beach, making it a truly unique venue. For them it was very important to have all their friends and family with them to be part of their wedding day yet dreamed of getting married on a Beach. Therefore Bournemouth was the perfect option. It meant guests had to travel a little way in the car but it meant that they could all be there as their was no flying involved and therefore no expensive plane tickets and their more elderly family could still join them. Better still, no crumpled wedding gown!
Kate and Tim are both police officers so had a busy summer being involved with some of the UK’s most spectacular events such as The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics. They had been plagued with patriotism and British fever so with this in mind they chose a Great British theme for their special day. It was the last weekend of October but although it was a little chilly they had a glorious sunny day so the guests could enjoying the sand and the sea.
Kate and Tim and their guests stayed at a Hotel just a short while along the seafront so they decided to hire a Big Red London Bus to transport everyone to Beach Weddings Bournemouth to get the theme off to a Great British start.
In June 2009, Rebecca and Toyohiro Bando attended the same wedding of a mutual friend in Hong Kong where the two hit it off and began dating soon after the wedding. After a year filled with romance and adventure, the two took a trip to Hawaii for a little rest and relaxation. While getting ready for dinner one night, Rebecca came out of the bathroom to find Bando down on one knee, with a marriage proposal in hand.
Beach weddings have more romantic appeal these days. So should be the shoes. Every woman knows that the shoes are the final touch of every outfit. Hence, they can make it perfect or simply destroy it.
When it comes to a wedding, we all know that the shoes should be brilliantly ideal! Here is a short list of things to keep in mind when choosing your beach wedding shoes.
- Think about the sand. Talk to your wedding planner and ask whether the ceremony will be on the beach itself or about the beach, at the restaurant. If you are planning to have your wedding ceremony on the sand, then choose a model that you can easily take off. Your shoes in hands and you both barefoot would be a perfect scenario for some of your wedding photos.
If you have chosen to have your wedding on the beach, you are unlikely to follow the traditions. That’s why, when it comes to wedding cakes, your beach wedding cake should be originally decorated, colorful and of course, very delicious.
One of the first things you should do is to research all good bakeries in the area where you beach wedding will take place. Once you have their contacts, you can approach them and discuss the idea of your wedding cake. What I would suggest you is to follow the theme of your wedding – décor, colors, motives, elements, etc. Nothing can compare with a perfect wedding cake matching the theme of the wedding and complementing the beauty of the bride (Yes, the wedding cake can make you look prettier when you are cutting the first slice).
You’ve decided to take your vows in beautiful hot sun, maybe on a beach or a yacht, or perhaps a gazebo set in a beautiful tropical garden, whatever the setting, you’ll be looking for that perfect dress style to suit your personality and your surroundings.
With so much choice out there and so many people telling you different things, it can become a little daunting, never mind confusing!
It’s always a good idea to take into account how your dress can be packed for your flight; do you want to carry it as hand luggage or are you happy for it to go in your suitcase in the hold? Check with your airline to see what dimensions they accept on board as hand luggage, as they do vary. Most good bridal shops will be able to help you with this, offering you different types of boxes and offering a packing service should you require it.
It seems like Mauritius is such an attractive destination for beach weddings and honeymoons, that everyone wants to go there. A couple who honeymooned on Mauritius replied to our request for first hand accounts of their time on the island. This was 10 years ago but they still remember every little detail and how impressed they were when they first saw the magical place.
The newly weds met a couple who asked them to go to their wedding (which was the same day) along with all the other people in the photos.
Here is what they kindly shared with us about their holiday in Mauritius:
„The place itself is very beautiful, but many of the locals live in abject poverty. Despite that, we never felt at risk or under threat and the people we met were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
It is worth noting that all of the beaches in Mauritius are public and as such, no matter where you are you will get hawkers trying to sell you goods on the beach. However, if you tell them ‘no thanks’ they leave you alone without any fuss.
If you want a posh and remarkable beach wedding in style, then you’d better go with leading wedding planners. They will ensure that you have a truly stunning wedding day, and may even be able to save you money!
